Wine and art have gone hand in hand for centuries. The old masters drew inspiration from the grape and its products, as many famous paintings testify. But the theme of wine has tickled the fancy of modern painters too - which of us is not familiar with the wine labels of Picasso? So it was that Vacu Products conceived the idea of selecting a special series of painting for several wine coolers. Some paintings were chosen from the work of the Dutch painter Ton Schulten. The splendid result is now before you: two wine coolers bearing a stylish and evocative seasonal impression so that you can now enjoy superb art and fine wine at the same time. Ton Schulten was born in 1938 in the little town of Ootmarsum in the Twente region of Holland where his still lives today. He trained at the Acaedemy of Arts and Industry in Enschede, graduating with honors as a graphic artist and designer in 1962. Until 1989 he pursued a successful career in advertising, all the while drawing, painting and making collages. In 1990 he finally made the break and chose artistic freedom, together with his wife Ank opening an art gallery in Ootmarsum under the name Chez Moi. Work by Ton Schulten has been exhibited widely in Holland, Germany, France and the United States. In 1996, Ton Schulten became the frist Dutch artist to exhibit in the Haus der Niederlande in Munster. This limited edition set of wine coolers may be seen as valuable objects which present a unique blend of functionality and aesthetic sensitivity.
