Artist/Art Educator
Julie Dunn is an accomplished artist and art educator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (1983), from California State University Fullerton, in Drawing and Painting, as well as a teaching credential in Art (1992), from National University.
Combining her love of art with teaching, has enabled Julie to enhance her own skills while assisting students. Her teaching career took her overseas, where she experienced a variety of cultures and artistic styles which have greatly influenced her work.
Julie’s unique style, known as Tempera Batik on paper, is characterized by a vivid use of color an appealing textural surface and compelling imagery. “I enjoy artwork which is inspirational and uplifting. I believe in painting from the heart. When an artist paints things which they find meaningful, I think honesty and depth of feeling is reflected in their work”. Her current paintings include Central Coast landscapes, exotic flowers and endangered species. Collectors of her work are attracted to both the abstract and representational qualities found in her paintings.
Currently living in Atascadero, CA with her husband and two children, Julie is pursuing her career as an artist. She is also employed as the Artist-in-Residence and Gate Facilitator at San Gabriel Elementary School and is the District Art Docent for the Paso Rubles Joint Unified School District.
